Abstract:

HTLV-1 (HUMAN T-CELL lymph tropic virus) is the cause of two recognized HUMAN diseases; Adult T CELL Leukemia/Lymphoma (ATLL) and HTLV-1 associated myelopathy (HAM) syndromes. Here, we report a patient who presented with confluent-violaceous maculopapular skin lesions, arthralgia and positive serology for rheumatoid factors. Later, the patient presented with thrombocytopenia anemia, walking disability and renal involvement. Future workup discovered the diagnosis of ATLL lymphomatous involvement and HTLV-1 positivity.

Abstract:

Background: Ameloblastoma an odontogenic tumor of ectodermal origin has been reported to arise, on rare occasions, in a primordial or dentigerous cyst of a young person. Numerous authors have suggested differing nomenclatures for these ameloblastomas and have sought to describe and classify the clinical and histopathologic features. These tumors have been characterized as a distinct variant exhibiting less aggressive behavior and a lower rate of recurrence than conventional ameloblastoma.Aims: This study was designed to look at the HUMAN papilloma virus as a caurse for Ameloblastoma.Materials and Methods: Samples of Ameloblastoma tumors were traced from the filing system in path lab Beheshti Dental School. Using PCR technique a search was carried out to dated HPV in DNA of samples. Results: There was a clear relationship between the rates of HPV in Ameloblastoma cases. Conclusion: HPV could be a preparing factor for Ameloblastoma.

Abstract:

Introduction: HUMAN T CELL Lymphotropic l.irus type I is responsible for Adult T CELL Leukemia/Lymphoma and HTLV-I associated myelopathy. The aim of this study was constructing two reporter plasmids to enable us to evaluate the effects of HTLV-I Tax protein upon intra CELLular signalling pathways which recruit CREB and NFkB proteins. Material and Methods: A complete coding region of bacterial betagalactosidase gene was subcloned into pUC18 , followed by inserting a poly adenylation signal downstream to it. Promoter regions of HTLV-I long terminal repeat and Interlukin 2 receptor alpha (which were stimulated by CREB and NFkB respectively) were amplified by PCR and separately inserted upstream to betagalactosidase gene, leading to construction of two reporter plasmids. The effect of cotransfection of a Tax expressing plasmid with each of these plasmids was evaluated by X-gal staining, beta galactosidase ELlSA or beta galactosidase activity assay with CPRG substrate. Results: Results clearly showed that both reporter plasmids responded well to stimulation of their promoters by Tax and the produced beta galactosidase could successfully be detected by all three methods. Results of ELlSA and assay tests for betagalactosidase showed a high correlation (r=0.949). Conclusion: Both reporter plasmids constructed in this study are able to produce considerably more betagalactosidase after stimulation by HTLV-I Tax. Advantages and disadvantages of three evaluating method for detection of betagalactosidase are studied and discussed.

Abstract:

Background: Previous studies have pointed to the major role of viruses in the pathogenesis of cancers, especially lymphoproliferative cancers. Objectives: The current study investigated the relationship between recent HUMAN Herpesvirus Type 6 (HHV6) infection and childhood leukemia-lymphoma syndrome. Methods: From January 2011 to December 2012, we entered every new case of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, acute myeloblastic leukemia, and Hodgkin lymphoma as the case group (n=48),moreover, 60 patients were randomly selected as controls from hospitalized children without infectious agents and myocarditis in the department of pediatric cardiology in Shiraz, Iran. Immunophenotyping of bone marrow or lymph node biopsy was performed for the case group. The DNA was extracted from all collected samples using a DNA extraction kit (Invitek Company, Germany), and a Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) for the U38 gene of HHV-6 was performed for the detection of the HHV-6 genome for both groups. Results: In the case group, 48 patients with the age range of 0-18 years were assigned to four subgroups: 1-Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, 2-Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia, 3-Hodgkin Lymphoma, and 4-non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. In the case group, there were four positive HHV-6 PCR patients: One in Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, one in Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, and two patients in the Hodgkin Lymphoma subgroup. None of the patients with T-CELL leukemia-lymphoma had positive PCR. The frequency of HHV6 PCR positive was not significantly different between the case (8. 3%) and control (1. 6%) groups (P=0. 169). No HHV-6 PCR positive was detected in T-CELL leukemia/lymphoma patients. Conclusion: As evidenced by the results of the present study, HHV-6 infection has no significant difference in children with T-CELL leukemia-lymphoma and healthy people.

Abstract:

In this study a 31 y/o woman who was housewife, came from Mazandaran and lived in Behshahr is presented. Patient's complaints were diarrhea, bloating, abdominal pain and weight loss. Abdominal radiography showed loop dilatation. In primary Para clinic assessments she had Alb: 2.8, Ca: 6.4, P: 2.3 and PTH: 201. Considering malabsorption in early evaluation, upper endoscopy was done. Intestinal folds were disappeared in second and third part of duodenum in endoscopic view and duodenal biopsy was done. Then pathological assessment revealed a large accumulation of intraepithelial lymphocytes and obvious villus atrophy that was accordant to celiac sprue. She was advised to be on gluten free diet. After about 1 month, She was referred because of sever lower extremities edema. Serum albumin was checked that was 2. Enlarged mesenteric lymph nodes were detected in sonography. Considering non- responding treatment, IHC staining of intestinal biopsy was performed with celiac sprue complication suspicion. Therefore the patient was referred to chemotherapy center with the diagnosis of T-CELL lymphoma following celiac sprue. She was spent 6 course chemotherapy with CHOP regimen and radiotherapy.
